kollokium, a company all about capturing and conveying a mood, has introduced a new variant that glows literally and figuratively. Their new release Variant “F” is the first true alternative rendition of Projekt 01 since the initial “Friends, Family & Fools” edition. With what is quite possibly a world-record amount of Super-LumiNova in a rarely seen violet light emission, Variant “F” takes chromatic and luminosity to new heights in a limited edition of 399 pieces.
Super-LumiNova, a phosphorescent pigment, has become known as an integral part of Projekt 01’s identity. With this launch, kollokium has further introduced Lichtblockᵀᴹ a ceramic-resin infused with Super-LumiNova which emits light 500 times of traditionally made dials with painted or pad-printed Super-LumiNova.
With Lichtblockᵀᴹ, Projekt 01 Variant “F” takes on a new dial design. A more abstract arrangement is found, with thicker clusters of pins and circular, spoked motifs. The even number hours feature dense clusters of pins. The dial itself is an intense violet color with a matte but slightly metallic finish that shifts from nearly black to indigo and finally bright violet. In total, there are 488 individually hand-applied Lichtblockᵀᴹ pins. To match the luminosity of the pins, a lozenge-shaped Lichtblockᵀᴹ element is attached to the tops of the hour and minute hands, emitting the same violet light as the dial. The seconds hand maintains signature kollokium style, with an open triangular counterweight recalling a bent strip of metal in bright white tone.
