ANTON SUHANOV
In an industry often tethered to the past, Anton Suhanov operates like a physicist in an artist’s studio. Emerging from his tenure as the lead designer for Konstantin Chaykin, Suhanov established his Saint Petersburg manufacture in 2018 with a singular mission: to strip away the "old-fashioned" tropes of horology and replace them with raw, high-performance engineering.
A member of the prestigious AHCI, Suhanov doesn’t just build watches; he creates mechanical spectacles that challenge the very geometry of time.
The Pulse of the Machine
Suhanov’s work is characterized by a "dial-side" philosophy, where the most complex mechanical secrets are moved from the back of the watch to the front. His creation of The Flamingo exemplifies this shift, featuring his first fully in-house caliber, the Su26.1L, and the hypnotic "Flaming Balance." By setting the oversized balance wheel with Super-LumiNova discs, Suhanov transforms a standard technical component into a swirling ring of light—a kinetic signature that breathes life into the watch in low-light environments.
Sculptural Complexity
Where others use hands, Suhanov uses motion. The Chronotope reimagines the calendar as a philosophical exercise, utilizing "tweezer" hands tipped with polished rubies to navigate a retrograde day-of-the-week display. This architectural approach extends to his world-renowned Lotus Clock, a mechanical floral sculpture whose petals slowly unfurl each morning to reveal a soaring triple-axis tourbillon.
