HALDIMANN
Haldimann is the oldest family-run independent Swiss watch manufacture still owned by the family that gives the company its name. The benefits of full creative freedom, of keeping all production exclusively in-house, and the fruits of maintaining the highest quality standards have been evident in every single timepiece and movement they have produced over the centuries.
Since their founding in 1642, Haldimann has revolved around a family tradition of innovation. It was father and son, Ulrich and Hans Haldimann, who established this tradition. A Haldimann philosophy and mentality has been cultivated over the centuries, in unison with the formation of Switzerland. This philosophy is based upon the concept of the “passage of time” - how does humanity materialize such an abstract concept? Haldimann aims to evoke the subjective experiences of time and to depict imaginary conceptions of time through their creations. Within their philosophy Haldimann distinguishes twelve aspects that they have been cultivating in particular, such as modesty and independence. These aspects are represented in their brand logo with the twelve phases of the moon.
“We want to work at the very limit of what the human hand is capable of.”
As a manufacture, Haldimann does what is impossible with pure hand-craftsmanship - by using machines and instruments that “lend a hand” to the human hand.
Since each timepiece takes a long time to create, a close relationship between the watchmaker and “their” watch is inevitably built. It is this relationship that brings the watch to life, conferring a vitality that is then transferred to the owner. The relationship Haldimann builds with their creations is at the core of what they do - its essence is undeniably woven into the work. This approach is what makes each of Haldimann Horology’s creations unique.
