Louis Erard - Le Régulateur Esprit Flinqué
With Esprit Flinqué, Louis Erard extends its métiers d'art explorations into entirely new territory. The brand has previously dazzled us with hand engraving, grand feu enamel, fil d'or, and even miniature wood marquetry. Each time, they've reinterpreted these ancient crafts through a contemporary lens, focusing on clarity, structure, and material presence.
This latest creation introduces a new visual grammar driven by light, structure, and depth. The flinqué technique—traditionally combining guilloché engraving with translucent enamel to create mesmerizing depth and luminosity—has been reimagined here as a sunburst fluting that radiates from the center of the dial like rays of frozen light.
The result is a three-part dial architecture of extraordinary sophistication:
A subtle tinted sub-dial base (blue or grey) providing atmospheric depth
A light base dial plate carrying the fluted sunburst Esprit Flinqué finish, creating that signature radiating texture
An upper minute counter in polished lacquer (blue or anthracite) with its own fluted sunburst Esprit Flinqué finish, floating above the lower plane
The hours and seconds are displayed on black skeletonized discs that rotate beneath the elevated minute dial, giving the impression of floating typography—a playful, almost surreal take on the regulator mechanism that remains eminently legible .
Two Characters, One Philosophy
The Esprit Flinqué arrives in two distinct personalities, each limited to 99 pieces:
Le Régulateur Esprit Flinqué Blue: A study in cerulean depth, with a subtle blue-tinted base, light blue fluted sunburst, and a cobalt lacquered minute counter. Paired with a beige grained calf leather strap that warms the cool tones without competing for attention.
Le Régulateur Esprit Flinqué Grey: An exercise in sophisticated restraint, featuring a grey-tinted base, light grey fluted sunburst, and an anthracite lacquered minute counter. Finished with a grey grained calf leather strap for tonal continuity.
Both share the same meticulously engineered foundation: a 39mm polished stainless steel case (12.82mm thick, 45.9mm lug-to-lug) with domed sapphire crystal and anti-reflective treatment, the signature Louis Erard fir tree crown, and 50m water resistance.
