Awake - The Deadly Watch
Following the smash success of its 'JURASSIC WATCH,' AWAKE returns with the second chapter of its "A Tribute To The Seventh Art" project: THE DEADLY WATCH.
Limited to just 88 pieces, this edition transforms Quentin Tarantino's 2003 masterpiece Kill Bill Vol. 1 into a wearable work of art—where Métiers d'Art meets cinematic vengeance.
Sơn Mài: Dial as Canvas
At its core lies AWAKE's mastery of Vietnamese Sơn Mài lacquer. Each dial demands ten hours of handcraft by master artisans in Hanoi, building layers of natural pigments into colors that bleed with meaning:
Yellow: The dominant hue channels the happiness and purity stolen from Beatrix Kiddo, while echoing her legendary Bruce Lee-inspired tracksuit.
Red: Hand-splattered lacquer mimics arterial spray—no two dials are identical.
Black: The outer rim absorbs light like gunpowder residue, representing her codename "Black Mamba."
The AWAKE logo appears in a Western "spaghetti" font—Tarantino's recurring aesthetic signature—while a 6 o'clock applique depicts the iconic katanas of Bill and The Bride.
The Deadly 88
The limitation of 88 pieces is a direct nod to the "Crazy 88" Yakuza army slaughtered in one of cinema's most iconic fight scenes. Each owner joins an elite cadre of collectors who recognize that wearing this watch is a declaration of both style and film literacy.
Light and Shadow
AWAKE's exclusive lume treatment uses Super-LumiNova BGW9 on markers and hands, transforming the space between crystal and dial into a "chamber of light reflection" that magnifies the lacquer's brilliance.
Case Back: A Cinephile's Treasure Map
The La Joux-Perret G101 automatic caliber is visible through the sapphire, its tungsten rotor bearing AWAKE's custom engraving. Surrounding it, a micro-blasted steel ring conceals these Easter eggs:
12 & 6 o'clock: "THE DEADLY WATCH" and motto "Artisanship, Awakened" in Western Spaghetti font
9 o'clock: The quotation "I’m gonna kill Bill"
Numbering: Each piece marked "Crazy 01" through "Crazy 88"
Four M16 bullets: Recalling the chapel massacre that opens the film
The Bride's Leather, Reborn
Straps are handcrafted by master saddlers in Franche-Comté, France, using matte black Barenia calfskin with yellow lining—directly mirroring Beatrix's leather outfit. Yellow topstitching (upper) and red (lower) complete the homage. Each strap requires 60 production steps and mounts to a recycled 316L steel buckle.
THE GOLDEN TICKET
Two of the 88 owners will be randomly selected to win an exact replica of The Bride's Hattori Hanzo katana:
Maru 1045 sharpened & engraved steel blade
Sharkskin & black synthetic leather handle
Laser-cut, blackened metal guard
Lacquered and gilded wooden scabbard
