Complex Mechanism Behind Prototype 00 - Unique Piece
1. The Art of Remontoir
Jens Schneider is the master watchmaker, engineer, and philosopher of Lang & Heyne, and beyond that, he is an artist.
A passionate and talented gentleman, he has been in the watchmaking industry for over 30 years. Having worked at Glashütte, A. Lange & Söhne, and Moritz Grossmann, he combines technology, mechanics, movement, and design to reach another milestone in Lang & Heyne.
Schneider drew the Remontoir for this project, a tremendous breakthrough in itself. It renders the Prototype 00 a memorable and fascinating piece for any collector or owner.
2. Black Enamel Dial & SLN Lancet Hands
The timepiece is created by a two-part enamel dial. A new state-of-the-art technology enables Lang & Heyne the ability to cut massive blocks of enamel into slices. The concept is to fix two of these discs on a metal support, resulting in a lower-positioned, smaller enamel dial fixed onto a larger enamel dial. Since the highly polished discs cannot be burned again, they are printed with high-quality varnish and the indexes are hand-linked with superluminova.
3. New Calibre VI in titanium
Lang & Heyne integrates a Remontoir mechanism in its entirely in-house Calibre VI movement by using titanium as the base material. This approach has basically been unheard of until now, due to the nature of titanium which makes it extremely challenging to work with. Nonetheless, the Lang & Heyne masters managed to overcoming the challenge. It is undeniably a huge milestone in the independent watchmaking world.
4. Coveted Mailanaise bracelet
The bracelet is made of Mailanaise warp knitted fabric which is manufactured in solid stainless steel links designed to fit snugly. The butterfly clasp is made by narrow links that are screwed, allowing the wearer to adjust the strap length easily.
