Carl Suchy & Söhne Event July 2025
July 28-29, 11am-7pm
It was a delight to have Robert Punkenhofer, co-owner of Carl Suchy & Söhne and an internationally renowned art and design expert, to The Lavish Attic. He has worked on countless exhibitions and art projects across the globe, and is the director and founder of Vienna Art Week. At this exclusive event, guests were able to hear Punkenhofer share about the inspiration, concept, and meticulous handcraftsmanship that goes behind the creation of Carl Suchy & Söhne timepieces. He also shared about his inspiring career and the story of how he came to represent Carl Suchy & Söhne.
Traveling all the way from Austria, he brought a wide range of pieces from their collections to showcase, including their newest Vienna timepiece. Laid across the velvet tablecloth were not only watches, but other elegant timepieces like pocket watches, and a table clock.
Each and every timepiece showcased was gracefully reminiscent of the Viennese spirit. In particular was the new Vienna timepiece, a homage to Viennese modernism and a symbol of the city’s elegance. Punkenhofer walked guests through a booklet of information on the Vienna, which included the architecture and home decor inspirations. He pointed out the clean lines marking the face of the dial and the buckle clasp, emphasizing the orderly shapes and symmetries of Viennese modernism.
Guests were invited to take a close look at the aesthetic and moving details of the watch, and were even able to try on the various watches to see how they would appear on the wrist. They were able to experience the intricate, graceful movements behind the dials, like the dancing “Vienna Waltz.”
Guests even received a demonstration of the winding of The Table Waltz, a table clock which is 100% made in Austria. It lets out a sweet and delicate chime at every full hour.
Punkenhofer also took the time to talk about the Belvedere collection, inspired by the Belvedere Palace in Vienna. He highlighted the waterproof feature of the watches - with it, you can swim in the Hong Kong harbour, or the Danube, if you were in Austria.
Thank you again to Robert Punkenhofer and Carl Suchy & Söhne for sharing this beautiful intersection of Viennese heritage and horological artistry with us, and thank you to all the lovely guests who came to join us.
